Day 10 (27 Oct, tue) Loboche to Pangboche - 3900m

This was a happy day, as we descended more than 1000m.
The implication was that I would not have AMS problem anymore & it would be warmer.

Helicopter (the small black dot above the mountain)
Whenever I saw a helicopter during the Trek, I would be quite sad, as it usually means that there is an emergency evacuation & somebody's life is in critical condition. In fact, I saw helicopter almost everyday during the trek.

Saw an Argentinian couple and their dog.
I was asking if the dog needs acclaimatization.
They looked really rugged and like they were on a long traveling trip (may be a few years)

I told JeeBan that I wanted to take a cool picture of him smoking.
It turned out to be quite funny.

A few weeks before I went for the trek, my friend and her mountaineering friends wanted to do Island Peak and another Peak (6,000m ++), which require basic mountaineering skills & would take 28days. I heard that they spent almost a year training for this expedition, unfortunately, they had 2 emergency evacuations within the first week. The second case was suffering from HAPE (Severe kind of AMS) which is life-threathening. Apparently, she was diagnosed with HAPE and could not lie down as the fluid accumulated in her lungs would drown her - known as dry drowning. To make things worse, the helicopter could not land at her resting place (around 4800m elevation), hence, the porters got to carry her down 500m to 4300m elevation @ the hospital where the helicopter can land.

Doctor's BF, Doctor & Helper
I brought some gifts from my friend to thank the doctors, who are volunteers and will be based in the hospital for 3 months during the peak trekking season. Amazing people!

We were glad to meet the French guy (sitted behind), who shared with us his AMS problems. He was forced to descend and separated from his group, as he was vomitting & had really bad headache due to AMS.
